What is the difference between HR studies in College and HR work in any SME ? Why it is very different for HR ?

What is the difference between HR studies in College and HR work in any SME  ?  Why it is very different for HR ?

Human Resources, also commonly abbreviated as HR, is a wide term used to describe the functioning of an organisation's workforce. In essence, it is about the people that make up the workplace: how they work, interact, what motivates them, how to keep a good balance between wellness and work output, what training they need, and so forth.

Just like a machine, the whole entity cannot function properly if all the smaller components do not work together, so in order to ensure the success of a business or enterprise, attention must be given to all the parts involved. If workers at ground level are not happy or feel that they are being treated unfairly, this would directly affect the efficiency of the upper levels, and could ultimately have a very negative impact on the business as a whole. Therefore, no matter what job you wish to pursue or already perform, having knowledge about the principles that govern successful Human Resources Management and obtaining a Human Resources qualification would always be of great value and give you a certain advantage in the corporate world
The increasingly demanding corporate world is fuelling the need for qualified HR Managers. Businesses aim for maximum success and, in order to achieve this, they rely on skilled, efficient, reliable and motivated workers. It goes without saying that a manager should therefore be able to work with people because motivating them implies that you understand and appreciate them. You cannot get the best out of your workers when you don't know how to treat them correctly, which makes HR Management Studies an integral part of running a successful enterprise.

Annada from HR Mantrana opined that the most important aspect in any SME is performance management. "Deciding mutually agreeable, time bound goals and documenting them gives clarity to the employee and his reporting authority. The employee then understands his KRA's (Key Result Areas) and can work diligently towards them. Knowing that you have contributed to the goal achievement in your own measurable way is one of the best motivations you can have.
The SMEs usually do not follow any formal HRM practices. The ownership and management generally coincide and the owner does not possess any formal management training. The employer-employee relationships are largely based on mutual trust and understanding. Most of the times, no formal employment contract is signed with the employees and the terms and conditions of employment are only verbally agreed between the employer and the employees. There is no strict compliance to the labor laws and the employees are also often happy with mutually discussed terms and conditions, provided they are paid enough. The negligence of HRM can be assessed by the fact that most of the SMEs do not even have a separate HR department also.

How a good presence on Internet can make work easy for a Smart HR Professionals ?

How a good presence on Internet can make work easy for a  Smart  HR Professionals  ?

In addition to traditional job search strategies social media tools can help you to be more proactive by leveraging your immediate network as well as tapping into extended networks. You can also build an on line personal brand that will help you to attract the type of employers and jobs you really want. Even if you aren't currently job seeking it’s worth reviewing your online presence anyway. You want to be sure that your digital reputation represents you accurately and in a positive way to your current employee.

Most people typically work from their company's central location, a physical space where everyone from that organization gathers to exchange ideas and organize their effort.
For these companies, basic web hosting would boost business and raise profits, yet due to either a fear of technology or simply being unaware of what web hosting and a basic web page could do for their bottom line they remain without a web presence.

What is Productivity ? Why it is very Important for HR in Global Recession ?

What is Productivity ? Why it is very Important for HR in Global Recession ?

Productivity is a measure of the efficiency of production. Productivity is a ratio of production output to what is required to produce it (inputs).
Productivity = Value / Time
(productivity equals value divided by time)

By this definition there are two primary ways of increasing productivity:
1) Increase the value created
2) Decrease the time required to create that value
Productivity is about the effective and efficient use of all resources. Resources include time, people, knowledge, information, finance, equipment, space, energy, materials.

To manage the resources of a business it is essential that you understand exactly what needs to be done to meet customer demand establish a plan that clearly identifies the work to be carried out define and implement the methodologies that need to be used to complete all activities and tasks efficiently establish how long it will actually take to complete each activity and task determine what resources you need to meet the plan
provide the necessary resources and initiate the plan constantly monitor what is actually happening against the plan identify variances and take the relevant actions to correct them or modify the plan.

A recession is a decline in a country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth for two or more consecutive quarters of a year. A recession is also preceded by several quarters of slowing down. An economy, which grows over of period of time, tends to slow down the growth as a part of the normal economic cycle. An economy typically expands for 6-10 years and tends to go into a recession for about six months to 2 years. A recession normally takes place when consumers lose confidence in the growth of the economy and spend less. These leads to a decreased demand for goods and services, which in turn leads to a decrease in production, lay-offs and a sharp rise in unemployment. Investors spend less; as they fear stocks values will fall and thus stock markets fall on negative sentiment. Risk aversion, deliverable and frozen money markets and reduced investor interest adversely affect t capital and financial flows, import - export and overall GDP of an economy. This is what exactly what happened in US and as a result of contagion effect spread all over the world due to high integration in the global economy.

The measure of productivity is defined as a total output per one unit of a total input. In today's arena the most common word we come across are recession and downturn. Recession or crisis is the part of the normal cycle of business. It is certain that they will sooner or later occur. Therefore, it makes just as much sense to plan for recession or downturns as it does to plan for good, economic times. The management people and employees may experience anxiety around a number of issues during an economic crisis or downturn. In this recession period HR play an important role to make the industry sustain and the entire economy flourish.

Why some Technical knowledge of Products is Important for HR Professionals ?

Why some Technical knowledge of Products is Important for HR Professionals ?

The success of human resource professionals, their ability to contribute as a business partner and to add value to the business will rest heavily on their competency skills and the quality of leadership they bring to the organisation.

With the changes in structure and functioning of enterprises, there has been a complete shift toward competencies that make for success in human resources. The HR competency profile consists of four pillars .

  • HR Leadership
  • The Role of HR Professionals
  • HR expertise
  •  Core competencies

In order to manage knowledge, we need to understand the nature of knowledge in organizations. It is helpful to distinguish between three categories of organizational knowledge: tacit knowledge, explicit knowledge, and cultural knowledge. Tacit knowledge is personal knowledge, explicit knowledge is codified knowledge  and cultural knowledge is based on shared beliefs. We use this framework to discuss the role of the information professional with respect to each category of knowledge.

Knowledge management initiatives led by information professionals in three organizations are then examined. An analysis of these experiences suggests many opportunities for information professionals to make important contributions in managing an organization's knowledge for growth and innovation.
If we are to manage knowledge in organizations, we need first to understand what it is — what is the nature and structure of organizational knowledge and what makes it distinct from other forms of knowledge. Knowledge in organizations is not monolithic nor homogeneous  but evolves from different origins and is engaged in different ways. Research suggests that organizational knowledge may be divided into: tacit knowledge, explicit knowledge, and cultural knowledge .

What are the good tools there on Internet ? How a HR Professional can take full use of them ?

What are the good tools there on Internet ? How a HR Professional can take full use of them  ?

Yes, the internet is an excellent tool to learn, gather information, maintain websites (as most libraries have public internet access). Not only is the internet an excellent tool it also provides house less homeless people an excellent means of communication for networking and passing on information (as well as just keeping up to date as what is happening).there is a growing network with the help of the internet for Grass Roots Media. The Internet has allowed people to send and receive information in seconds rather than days or weeks using E-mail. There is no barrier to doing business or collaborative research across continents.

Families can use email to keep in touch in a way that was never possible before. Instant messengers such as MSN, Skype and many others allow text, sound and video to be transferred worldwide instantly as well as sharing images and other data. As a research and learning tool, the Worldwide Web offers a vast library of data. Finding information is as simple as entering words into a search engine. Knowledge can be gained in minutes rather than hours and days.

The incredibly rapid transfer of data means that people can travel less. Contact can be maintained from almost anywhere in the world as easily as across a meeting table.
The Internet provides a platform for individuals to publish information, advertising data and commerce sites. No other medium is as accessible to individuals and small businesses.

As technology changes around us, we are forced to change as well, or risk being left behind. We can choose to fight against it at all cost, or try to adapt our old ways to the new technology. But to be truly successful, we must learn to step outside of our proverbial “box” and completely change our perspective of what is possible and what we should be doing.

Why link building is very Important for an HR in Global Recession ?

Why link building is very Important for an HR in Global Recession ?

Link building is one of the way of people to increase or improve their business. In this case, they do some actions that can make or interest the other people or customers to buy their products of the business. That is the aim of the link building that someone or people do in this globalization era. In fact, in the term of link building, the people is just having to make one site. But, they have to make the best and written content. So, later when we put it in the search engine, there are many sites which link to our site, and there are many customers who will buy our products.
Link-building is the practice of obtaining links from external web sites to your own to improve both direct referrals (people clicking on the links) and search engine ranking. In the link building, we need to do many works, and we also need strategies. Beside it, we also have to think about the result of our link building campaign. In this case, we need it to evaluate our campaign whether we can get many beneficial links or not, and how many link building services that we get. The most important thing in the link building is getting for the beneficial links to increase our business.

Most of the countries all over the world are going through this phase of economic recession. Many old and big companies have already been brought down on their knees to bite the dust. Many companies as well as countries have become bankrupt or are on the verge of it. Millions and millions of people have lost their jobs. Many people have lost millions and billions of dollars. People in general are scared and fearsome. This is not the first time that the global economy is going through recession and this is also not the last time. There is a pattern involved in it. On an average it is happening after every 8-10 years.

In our life, there is a special place for money (be it in any currency). Most of the problems that we are facing in our life and day-to-day living are linked with it. Food, shelter, clothes, life-style, education, comforts and etc and etc, each and everything involves money. Money should be revolving; it comes, it goes and it comes back again. It should always change hands or else it is useless. It is this nature of the money that drives the economy of a country, a company or our life. And when you are going through recession, it means no money is coming in. Money is not coming in but yet you need to live and hence there is a need for cost-cutting. But you never know how long the recession will continue and hence more cost cutting. People drive the economy and when there is recession then it is these very people who suffer.

How an Smart HR Professionals can take full advantage of Global Recession ?

How an Smart  HR Professionals can take full advantage of Global Recession ?

Will this recession ever end? Employees and their companies are experiencing the longest period of economic downturn since the Great Depression. Workers are exhausted, physically and mentally. Organizations are cutting costs to the bone, laying off even top performers and wringing every bit of productivity from the employees who remain. And caught in the middle, working hard to shoulder the load are the HR professionals. The recession has created extraordinary challenges in workplaces around the globe

Many companies that have branches in other countries have employed global human resources professionals who manage and advise on the human resource requirements of the firms. Global HR professionals play an important role in helping employees who have been sent to foreign countries to have a smooth transition into the country. They take care of visa issues of the employee, offer advice on tax requirements, provide housing assistance and may provide cross-cultural training. Some large firms may have their in-house human resources department take care of this, while some prefer to hire global relocation companies that help the employees settle down.

Global HR professionals may also be in charge of posting vacancies, setting up interviews, and screening resumes of job applicants in foreign countries. They provide guidance and advise the team abroad and report on progress to the chief executive office at the firm’s global headquarters.

Global HR careers are challenging in nature, and job seekers of these positions must be well-rounded individuals who can take a lot of pressure at work. It may involve relocation, and job seekers should be willing to travel to other regions where the climate may not be conducive and the population may be unwelcoming. Some of the challenges that Global HR professionals face include searching of labor through outsourcing. Companies may require cheap labor offered by the local population and it is the work of the global HR professional to source for this labor. Getting the right candidates who are qualified in the job may be a big challenge due to language or cultural barriers.

what is job posting?

What is job posting?

Finding the right job to suit your needs, talents and abilities can be a very intense and extensive process. Job hunters must often pass through many employment hurdles before they can get employed. Finding the right person to fill a job opening can be equally difficult for an employer. One of the methods used to bring both together is a job posting.

The method of advertising for vacancies internally by posting a notice of the opening on a bulletin board, etc. is called as a job posting. It advertise the current employment opportunities available in the company. Job posting is defined as an approach for indicating the vacant positions available currently within a company. A job posting contains the details about description of the job, the qualification required, location and salary. Earlier job postings appeared only in notice boards and newsletters.

Nowadays, internal job requirements are posted in an organization’s intranet itself. Internal job posting programs play an important role in simplifying the internal recruitment process in any industry. Internal job posting programs are highly useful to employees working in big enterprises and looking for a relocation or transfer.  Job posting is a common event in such organizations.

Advantages of Job Postings

  • Posting a job can allow the employer to search for employees in many different places.
  • The job posting can also allow the employer to make clear exactly what is expected of applicants.
  •  A job posting may serve to discourage people from applying who do not meet the employer's specifications and educational requirements.

Disadvantages of Job Postings
  • Posting help wanted ads may invite solicitations from people who are completely unqualified for the job in question.
  •  A posting may also cost money to post and may result in a tremendous amount of extra work for staff as they must sort through cover letters and resumes.
  •  An employer may wish to ask current employees to help her find additional employees instead or work with a headhunter to find qualified candidates who have already been vetted.

What is Press release?

What is Press release?

A press release is a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something ostensibly newsworthy. The use of press releases is common in the field of public relations (PR). Typically, the aim is to attract favorable media attention to the PR professional's client and/or provide publicity for products or events marketed by those clients. A press release provides reporters with an information subsidy containing the basics needed to develop a news story.

Press releases can announce a range of news items, such as scheduled events, personal promotions, awards, new products and services, sales and other financial data, accomplishments, etc. They are often used in generating a feature story or are sent for the purpose of announcing news conferences, upcoming events or a change in corporation.A press release is a written communication that purports to report on an event, circumstance or occurrence by a third party, and is provided to the news media for the purpose of promotion.

A press release, on the other hand, is designed to be sent to journalists and or media outlets (newspapers, magazines, broadcasters, etc.) in order to encourage them (the reporter or actual media outlet) to develop news articles on the subject. A press release is generally biased toward the objectives of the press release’s author and is most often viewed as raw materials by the media when creating news content.Press releases are most effective when they are under 500 words, generally two to three paragraphs, preceded by a clear and attention grabbing headline.

Elements
Some of these common structural elements include:
Headline — used to grab the attention of journalists and briefly summarize the news.
Dateline — contains the release date and usually the originating city of the press release. If the date listed is after the date that the information was actually sent to the media, then the sender is requesting a news embargo, which journalists are under no obligation to honor.
Introduction — first paragraph in a press release, that generally gives basic answers to the questions of who, what, when, where and why.
Body — further explanation, statistics, background, or other details relevant to the news.
Boilerplate — generally a short "about" section, providing independent background on the issuing company, organization, or individual.
Close — in North America, traditionally the symbol "-30-" appears after the boilerplate or body and before the media contact information, indicating to media that the release has ended. A more modern equivalent has been the "###" symbol. In other countries, other means of indicating the end of the release may be used, such as the text "ends".

A press release or a news release is a written announcement directed at members of the news media about something claimed as having news value. This encourages the journalists to write a news article on the subject giving you a lot more exposure for free. Press releases can announce a range of business news such as: scheduled events, awards, accomplishments, new products, new services, executive promotions, sales and other financial data, etc.

A press release is a communication that is sent to news media to be distributed among the masses. The press release can be in written, audio or video format depending on the medium of the news providers. Press releases are considered as a major source of news information all over the world. They are the most commonly used public relations tool now days. Press releases can be of many types depending on what it is covering.  It can be used to help change public opinion or to build awareness.  It can also be used to gain support for nonprofit organizations.

What is domain and domain extension?

What is domain and domain extension?

In general, a domain is an area of control or a sphere of knowledge.
1) In computing and telecommunication in general, a domain is a sphere of knowledge identified by a name. Typically, the knowledge is a collection of facts about some program entities or a number of network points or addresses.

2) On the Internet, a domain consists of a set of network addresses. This domain is organized in levels. The top level identifies geographic or purpose commonality (for example, the nation that the domain covers or a category such as "commercial"). The second level identifies a unique place within the top level domain and is, in fact, equivalent to a unique address on the Internet (an IP address). Lower levels of domain may also be used.

The web is the busiest place we know today, with millions of websites now available online, competing to catch the users’ attention. Apart from the common marketing and search engine optimization techniques, one of the key weapons website owners use in ‘fighting’ for their visitors’ attention is the name of their website - i.e. their domain.

What a domain looks like?
Choosing a domain for the website is absolutely necessary. But before you rush to make your domain registration now, it is good to get yourself familiar with the structure of a domain.

Domain Extensions (TLDs)

Generic domains (gTLDs) You must be all familiar with the most popular domain extensions on the web - .COM, .NET, .INFO, .ORG, .BIZ, .NAME, .MOBI, etc. They are all known as generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and are open for registration to all users worldwide, regardless of their citizenship, residence or age.

All international domains have their formal purpose, for instance, .COM is intended for commercial sites, .NET for network companies, .ORG for non-profits, .BIZ for businesses, .NAME for personal pages, .MOBI for mobile-device optimized sites. Nevertheless, most of them, with the exception of .MOBI, can be used for any type of websites. Their growing popularity and easy-to-spell syntax have made them a preferred choice among users.

Country-code domains (ccTLDs) If you are wondering why there are so many (over a hundred) domain extensions on the web, the answer is that almost any country in the world, including small islands, has its own top-level domain. The list is really impressive. You can find extensions from .US for United States to .NU for the island of Niue. The country domains are a great way for companies and organizations to target their local audiences more closely. It is important to know that each country has specific registration rules for its official domain, so you should always check them before you choose your country domain.

However, many country domains like .CC, .ME, .TV, .WS, .BE, .NL have appeared to be really attractive for registration, due to their speaking-for-itself spelling. For that reason, most of their countries have granted registrars the right to promote their domains as international extensions and even as new fresh alternatives to the popular but ‘running out of stock’ generic domains.
