If we are to manage knowledge in organizations, we need first to understand what it is — what is the nature and structure of organizational knowledge and what makes it distinct from other forms of knowledge. Knowledge in organizations is not monolithic nor homogeneous but evolves from different origins and is engaged in different ways. Research suggests that organizational knowledge may be divided into: tacit knowledge, explicit knowledge, and cultural knowledge .
